The Kotor police announced that the claims that the activities of police officers during the carnival in that city were aimed at disrupting the event are unfounded, but that the police's actions were solely in the function of preserving public order and peace, as well as the safety and protection of the health of citizens.
This is stated in a statement received from the Police Directorate regarding the actions of their officers. during the Kotor Carnival.
The statement also points out that They act as a politically neutral institution, with a primary focus on preserving public order, the safety of all citizens, and protecting the rule of law.
The Council for Citizens' Control of Police Work asked the acting director of the Police Administration, Lazar Šćepanović, to inform them about the events during the International Summer Kotor Carnival, when a police patrol interrupted the carnival procession at the moment when the group "Kingdom of the Holy Healer" was performing, whose mask alluded to the work and attitude towards Kotor of the Minister of Urban Planning, Slaven Radunović.
The group wore a mask - a model of the Cathedral of Saint Tryphon, in front of which there is a swimming pool and sun loungers. In addition, they carried a banner representing a sign from the construction site, which contains a photograph of the cathedral with a swimming pool and which, among other things, reads: "Collective housing facility with underground garage and swimming pool; Expert supervision: Slaven Radunović".
The police announced that their measures included a temporary and complete traffic closure between 20.45:23 p.m. and XNUMX p.m., with the aim of ensuring the smooth and safe passage of the carnival procession.
"Namely, during the event, police officers, acting in accordance with legal authorizations and established procedures, allowed temporary passage through the carnival procession for a vehicle from the Emergency Medical Service, for the purpose of medical care for an injured person, with the vehicle moving along the far edge of the roadway and taking up minimal space. In addition, during the event, in accordance with applicable procedures, passage was allowed exclusively to official police vehicles," the police announced.

They add that this type of action is intended and permitted in situations related to the protection of the safety and health of citizens.
"Also, during the implementation of planned activities, in one segment of the proceedings, there was a disagreement between the activity coordinator and the security manager, which did not affect the coordinated activities aimed at preserving public order and peace, as well as ensuring the safety of citizens and participants and visitors to the event, which was held to the end. Therefore, officers of the Kotor Security Department indicate that the claims that the activities of police officers were aimed at disrupting the event are unfounded, but, as previously stated, the police's actions were solely in the function of preserving public order and peace, as well as the safety and protection of the health of citizens," the statement states.
The police add that they will conduct a comprehensive analysis of the actions of the officers responsible for securing the event and that they will inform the Council for Civilian Control of Police Work and the public about everything.
