The government supports the soup kitchen in Tivat

The Government of Montenegro, at the initiative of the Ministry of Social Welfare, Family Care and Demography, made a decision last week to redirect funds from the current budget reserve for the needs of the sustainability of the Caritas Soup Kitchen - Tivat project.

According to the director of Caritas of the Diocese of Kotor, priest Don Željko Pasković, funds in the amount of 20.000 euros have been allocated, which is of great importance for the Soup Kitchen project in Tivat, which is being implemented by this humanitarian organization of the Roman Catholic Church in cooperation with several local institutions and donors.

"In cooperation with the relevant ministries of finance and social welfare, with the wholehearted support of the Member of Parliament of Montenegro who is a native of Tivat, Tonći Janović, the Government has decided to donate funds in the amount of 20 thousand euros, which is what we need to successfully finance the work of the Soup Kitchen and successfully bring this calendar year to an end, for which we need a total of about 80 thousand euros," said Don Željko Pasković.

He emphasized that the support of the Municipality of Tivat, headed by Mayor Željko Komnenović, is crucial for the work of the Soup Kitchen, which is located in the old Fire Station building in Pakovo and which provides hot meals daily to 70-80 beneficiaries in social need in the summer, and 60-70 in the winter.

"From the beginning, he showed great understanding of the importance of this project for the Tivat community. The municipality has allocated 50 thousand euros to the Soup Kitchen this year, which is of great importance for servicing the needs of the kitchen, including salaries for five employees, purchasing groceries and covering overhead costs. Our regular donor, a Montenegrin family from Berlin, also helps a lot, as do local businessmen and individuals who have created standing orders and regularly allocate funds to us according to their capabilities, or deliver groceries directly to the kitchen. Among them, I would like to highlight the Tivat company "Montefish" from Tivat," emphasized Don Pasković.

He emphasized that the work of the Tivat Soup Kitchen depends exclusively on donations and support from various institutions, which makes the financial donation from the Government that they just received all the more significant to them.

New parking

The Government of Montenegro has accepted the request of the Municipality of Tivat that the state cede cadastral plot 51/2 KO Tivat, with an area of 7.018 square meters, to the local administration for temporary use. This plot is state-owned and is located in Seljanovo, behind residential buildings on the north side of Bokeljska Street.

This plot is registered in the cadastre as a "class 2 pasture", and the Plan of Temporary Facilities in the Municipality of Tivat for the period 2024 - 2028 envisages the development of vehicular and pedestrian areas, as well as the installation and development of a temporary parking lot with an area of 970 square meters.

At the request of the Municipality, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, and the Ministry of Spatial Planning, Urbanism and State Property, responded positively, so the Government decided to accept it and give the Tivat Municipality this plot for temporary use so that it could arrange a parking lot there, since there is a great lack of public parking spaces in Seljanovo, which is one of the largest settlements in Tivat.
