New Serbian Democracy condemned the "illegal arrest" of Vujadin Dobrašinovic, who, they say, was imprisoned because he built a monument to "JVuO officer" Pavle Đurišić on his property and with his own funds.
The Beranac man was arrested today and the police filed a criminal complaint against him for the crime of injury and unauthorized erection of a memorial, after a monument to the Chetnik commander Pavle Đurišić was erected on a plot of land he owned, in the Beranac village of Gornje Zaostro.
"Unfortunately, we once again have a double standard policy on the scene, especially when it comes to topics that should be resolved through dialogue, without exclusivity and narratives inherited from the time of single-mindedness. Today, we have a case where the competent authorities do not react to months-long traffic blockades that disrupt the functioning of the entire state and destroy its economy, but are effective when it comes to removing a monument erected on private property," the statement reads.
They called for dialogue and conversation on all topics, "even the most painful ones."
"If we all agree that we live in 2025, then we must behave in accordance with the times and democratic principles, because someone might think that we are still living in a time of totalitarianism and that we have stopped in the XNUMXs or XNUMXs. Dialogue and conversation on all topics, even the most painful ones, is the best solution to overcome all hatred," the NSD announced on Facebook.
