The Agency for the Management of Protected Areas in Podgorica has formed a Council for the Komovi Nature Park.
The constituent meeting of that body was held yesterday at Kučke koriti.
The Council will have the task of initiating, proposing and suggesting to the Agency optimal and possible solutions in accordance with national legislation, "which will contribute to more efficient management and preservation of the protected area".
"Expert representatives from the Komovi Nature Park area and enthusiasts have been appointed as members of the Council: Predrag Petrović, Ana Pajević-Tošić, Jelena Dragović, Nastadin Bulatović, Vaselj Nuculović, Anđela Božović, Lidija Rašović, Milovan Pavicevic, Ivan Laković, Bato Đurović and Budo Rašović," the Agency announced.
Predrag Petrović was elected president of the Council. This, they say, has strengthened the role and voice of the local population in the process of managing the protected area.
For the Secretary of the Council Ana Pajević Tošić, a graduate biologist, was elected as a nature protection advisor at the Agency for Management of Protected Areas in Podgorica.
"The establishment of the Council represents an important step towards strengthening cooperation between the local community and the Agency, with the aim of preserving the biodiversity and cultural values of the Komovi Nature Park," the statement reads.
