LGBT Forum Progress and Social Center: Media workers must have guaranteed security to perform their work without hindrance

LGBT Forum Progress and the Social Center strongly condemned the attack on photojournalists from the Vijesti and Pobjeda editorial offices who, while performing their professional duties, were exposed to violence and serious threats in Gornji Zaostar.

As stated in a statement by the LGBT Forum of Progress and the Social Center, today's attack on journalists is not just an attack on individuals, but a direct attack on media freedom and the right of citizens to truthful, impartial and timely information.

"All media workers must have guaranteed security to carry out their work unhindered and without fear, because only free media can contribute to transparency and accountability in society," the statement said.

They called on the competent institutions to react immediately, ensure the necessary protection of journalists, and legally prosecute all those responsible for this attack.

"At a time when the role of the media is more important than ever, it is crucial that institutions clearly demonstrate that they will not tolerate violence against those who act in the service of the public," the statement concluded.
