Montenegrin family from Berlin provides scholarship for education of Dejan Božović's children

A Montenegrin family from Berlin, recognized for numerous humanitarian actions, has provided a scholarship that will enable the schooling and education of all four children of Dejan Božović, a member of the Montenegrin Army who was killed today in a firefighting operation in Kuči, near Podgorica.

The statement was forwarded to the media by family friend Ljubomir Filipović.

"Out of respect and admiration for the heroic sacrifice of a member of the Montenegrin Army, Dejan Božović, a Montenegrin family from Berlin decided to pay tribute to his memory in a special way and support his family in these difficult times. As a sign of gratitude and recognition for his courage and selflessness, a Montenegrin family from Berlin provided a scholarship that will enable the schooling and education of all four of Dejan Božović's children. This humane gesture represents a strong message of solidarity and unity of the Montenegrin diaspora with its people in the homeland," the text reads.

The scholarship, as explained, will cover all of the children's educational needs, from primary to higher education.

"This is a concrete example of how a community can stand by a family beset by a great tragedy and help them continue their lives with hope and support. This initiative not only preserves the memory of Dejan Božović and his heroic deed, but also strengthens the bond between Montenegrins around the world, confirming that it is not important where we are, but how ready we are to help and protect each other. Montenegro sincerely thanks the Montenegrin family from Berlin for this noble act that provides light and hope to his family in moments of pain and loss. His courage and sacrifice continue to inspire and motivate the entire community, and the support that has come from the diaspora shows that solidarity and love for the homeland are inexhaustible," the statement reads.
