Member of the Montenegrin Army Marko Iković is in a stable condition and is now on the verge of recovery, the Ministry of Health announced.

He is being treated in the Intensive Care Unit of the Clinic for Anesthesia and Resuscitation of the KCCG.

Iković, who was seriously injured while fighting a fire in Kuči, was visited by the Director General of the Ministry of Health Irena Šubarić and Medical Director of the Clinical Center of Montenegro Đorđije Krnjević.

As Šubarić pointed out, the injury was sustained "during a courageous action to extinguish the catastrophic fires that have hit Montenegro in recent days, while performing his duty in the service of protecting the lives and property of citizens."

"The Ministry of Health is in constant contact with the medical staff and is regularly informed about the patient's condition. We provide full support to the Clinical Center in all necessary activities and thank the entire staff for their professional dedication and care. Our thoughts and support are with our brave citizen, with wishes for a speedy recovery," said Šubarić.

According to Krnjević, the patient was hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit, where he is under constant supervision of anesthesiologists and intensivists. Orthopedic and surgical interventions were performed yesterday to treat the injuries.

"The patient is currently out of immediate danger, conscious, communicative and with stable vital parameters. Given the severity of the injuries, treatment continues with intensive monitoring, with the hope of a positive outcome," Krnjević said.
