"During the first nine days of August, the collection and transportation of as much as 1.360.905 kilograms of mixed waste was recorded, which is 32.445 kilograms more than in the same period last year," the Budva Municipal Enterprise told "Vijesti".
As they point out, this data directly speaks to the increased volume of work due to greater traffic to the city, and although information about a worse season is published, the waste sheets show an increase in the amount of mixed waste.
"In the midst of the tourist season, DOO Komunalno Budva carries out a wide range of regular activities every day, carried out by all working units operating within our Company. Thanks to good preparation and coordination in the field, the pre-season and season were met with readiness, and utility services are provided continuously and responsibly. The working unit for maintaining green areas performs daily mowing of public green areas, pruning of trees and shrubs, weeding of flower areas, as well as manual watering of green and flower areas throughout the municipality of Budva," they emphasize in the largest municipal company.
They add that maintaining public lighting is another key activity.
"The control of lighting poles and connections is carried out daily, in order to ensure the functionality and safety of public lighting, especially considering the increasingly frequent attempts at illegal connection. At the same time, old bulbs are being replaced with new LED lighting fixtures, which have higher light intensity and greater energy efficiency. As part of mosquito control measures, six larvicidal and four adulticidal treatments have been carried out so far, and dusting is being carried out throughout the municipality. It is planned to implement a total of seven adulticidal treatments by October," they estimate in Komunalno Budva.
A particularly demanding segment of work during the summer, as they point out, is carried out by the Cleanliness work unit.
"This work unit, which is in constant action due to the increased intensity of the tourist season. All city roads are washed daily, the Old Town is washed twice a week, containers and container stations are disinfected, as well as manual and mechanical cleaning of the city. Also, the collection and removal of mixed, biodegradable and bulky waste is carried out daily.
"What is important to emphasize is that we operate every day in difficult conditions due to heavy traffic jams, illegally parked vehicles blocking container stations, as well as unscrupulous behavior of individuals, including the disposal of bulky waste in violation of regulations and prohibitions on its disposal, although we have given our fellow citizens the option of having bulky waste removed on request," the company emphasizes.
They conclude that both the pre-season and the season were met with readiness, and that now, at the very peak of summer, utility services are operating without any major problems that fellow citizens would point out.
"Everything indicates that with good management organization, quality coordination in the field and the joint efforts of all employees, this season will be successfully completed in accordance with the planned goals and expectations of fellow citizens and visitors to Budva," Komunalni Budva concludes.
