The most endangered locations, in terms of fires, are currently Piperi and Kučka korita, it was announced at a press conference by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP).
The Head of the Directorate for Civil Protection and Disaster Risk Reduction at the Directorate for Protection and Rescue, Ljuban Tmušić, said that "underground fires" are occurring in Montenegro.
"Fires are self-reactivating as the day progresses and temperatures increase. We had one or two new fires yesterday," said Tmušić.
He stated that 13 vehicles and 56 firefighters and members of the Army of Montenegro (AVCG) were deployed in the territory of Podgorica.
"Three vehicles and 15 firefighters were deployed in the territory of Nikšić, one vehicle and four firefighters were deployed in Danilovgrad," said Tmušić.
According to him, three firefighters with one vehicle were deployed in Bijelo Polje.
"The Directorate's aircraft is deployed in Nikšić at the Petrovići location. The Montenegrin Air Force team is deployed in the Kuče area," said Tmušić.
He stated that about 575 tons of water were released on Friday.
Tmušić said that it was important that there were no unevacuated people and that there were no newly burned buildings.
Responding to a journalist's question, Tmušić said that the most endangered locations are currently Piperi and Kučka korita.
The Head of the Directorate for Logistics and Technical Support and leader of the Austrian firefighting team, Robert Gruber, said that the situation is critical and is developing rapidly.
"We have been conducting daily assessments through meetings, the situation is critical, it is difficult, but I believe that the mission is on the right track and is approaching completion," said Gruber.
"We are here to support Montenegro, and tomorrow Austria may need help," said Gruber.
He stated that they received a fire forecast today and that there is a high risk of fire in the region.
Gruber said that close cooperation between fire departments is therefore important.
