Montenegro is proud of its people who are fighting fires day and night, not caring about fatigue and danger, but putting their country and its citizens above personal life and safety, said Deputy Prime Minister for Security, Defense, Fight against Crime and Internal Policy Aleksa Bečić.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) announced today that the head of that department, Danilo Šaranović, and Bečić visited the Directorate for Protection and Rescue of the MUP, as a sign of support for firefighters, soldiers, voluntary firefighting societies, volunteers and all services that, without respite, protect Montenegro from fires.
The Ministry of the Interior said that during the visit, representatives of the Directorate informed Bečić and Šaranović about the situation on the ground, the functioning of the protection and rescue system and the key challenges they face on a daily basis, and that they reminded that at the time of the election of this Government, the protection and rescue system was found without a single working aircraft, but they also emphasized that in the previous period the system had been significantly renovated and improved so that today it can operationally respond to even the most complex challenges.
The statement also states that it is emphasized that there is no country that can cope with fire elements of this scale on its own, and that the whole of Europe is facing fires of extreme intensity, and that despite this, the Montenegrin protection and rescue system today functions in an organized, timely and 24-hour manner, with maximum dedication from all teams in the field.
The statement says that Bečić emphasized that Montenegro is proud of its people who are fighting fires day and night, not caring about fatigue and danger, but putting their country and its citizens above personal life and safety.
"We are united in this fight and that is our greatest strength. Montenegro remembers and will remember its courage, but also its friends from the region and Europe who lent us a hand when it was most difficult. Our gratitude to Serbia, Italy, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Austria, Switzerland and everyone who helped us or will help us in the coming days is sincere and deep. I would especially like to emphasize that Montenegro is the only country outside the European Union that has access to the European CECIS platform, which confirms that our capacities and the trust of international partners have never been greater. This is the result of responsible policy and the restoration of the country's reputation on the international stage," said Bečić.
He added that the support of socially responsible companies and individuals is proof that all of Montenegro breathes as one.
"Famous football player Stevan Jovetić, CEDIS, Eco-fond, the Regional Waterworks of the Montenegrin Coast and Pogon doo will donate valuable equipment worth a total of around 40.000 euros to the Directorate for Protection and Rescue. This is proof that patriotism is not a platitude, but a word and deed," said Bečić.
Šaranović emphasized that the professionalism and integrity of colleagues from the Directorate for Protection and Rescue and the Operational Communications Center are the best confirmation that Montenegro possesses the expertise, knowledge and courage to respond to the greatest challenges.
"Our firefighters, pilots, soldiers and volunteers work side by side with international partners, showing that Montenegro is not a small country when it comes to big tasks. That is why I want to pay tribute to all the services that are on the front lines day and night, because your fight saves lives, homes and the natural resources of Montenegro," said Šaranović.
The Ministry of Interior's statement states that the Director General of the Directorate, Miodrag Bešović, thanked the Government and citizens for the strong support, emphasizing that the technical, organizational and informational improvements to the protection and rescue system, implemented in the previous period, have shown that the system can now rely on itself, reliably, coordinated and efficiently.
"During a tour of the premises of the Operational and Communication Center, Vice President Bečić and Minister Šaranović had an insight into the functioning of CECIS, the Common Information and Communication System in Emergency Situations, which connects the 37 member states of the Protection and Rescue Mechanism," the Ministry of Interior said in a statement.
