The situation in the territory of Podgorica is stable and there are currently no active fires, the acting (acting) commander of the Protection and Rescue Service, Nikola Bojanović, told "Vijesti" tonight.
Earlier today, Bojanović thanked the Monteputa firefighters, who, he points out, have been "shoulder to shoulder with the Podgorica firefighters" in recent days and have made a significant contribution to extinguishing the fire.
"Also, the greatest gratitude is expressed to the pilots of the MUP's Air and Helicopter Unit, who, through their aerial operations, enabled many fires to be brought under control and prevented their further spread," he said.
He appealed to citizens to show "maximum responsibility and not to light fires in open spaces, because even the smallest flame can cause a large fire and endanger human lives, property and nature."
"Any suspicious activity or fire observed should be reported immediately to 123. The Capital City Protection and Rescue Service continues to monitor the situation with full responsibility and is taking all measures to keep citizens and their property safe," said Bojanović.
Yesterday's rain was both a help and a salvation for tired Montenegrin firefighters and rescuers, their colleagues on land from Austria and Switzerland, members of the Montenegrin Army, locals, crews from Montenegro, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Czech Republic, as it fell in Piperi, Kuči, and also helped rescuers in Nikšić.
