A United Arab Emirates (UAE) aircraft will arrive in Montenegro today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MVP) announced, adding that the support for Montenegro in fighting the fires is a confirmation of international solidarity.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs thanked all international partners, domestic services and citizens who made an immeasurable contribution to extinguishing the fires that have affected several areas of Montenegro in recent days.
"In the field, side by side with domestic services, specialized units from Austria, Switzerland, Italy, the Czech Republic, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Hungary are operating," the statement said.
It is emphasized that their expertise, equipment and solidarity represent invaluable support to Montenegro in these challenging times.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the air force also made a special contribution, whose helicopters and planes enable firefighting in inaccessible terrain.
"Assistance from the UAE has also been announced, with a plane arriving in Montenegro today," the statement said.
As the Ministry of Foreign Affairs pointed out, international solidarity has once again been confirmed in practice, and joint cooperation demonstrates the strength of friendly relations and partnerships in Europe, the region and beyond.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs thanked the countries and teams that responded to the call and provided support in the shortest possible time.
"At the same time, we express our great respect for all domestic services - firefighters, members of the Army of Montenegro (AVCG), police and volunteers - who make selfless efforts to protect the lives of citizens, their property and the natural wealth of our country," the statement said.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that they also remember with sadness and reverence the tragically killed member of the Armed Forces of Montenegro, Dejan Božović, whose sacrifice, as they said, obliges us to persevere in joint action.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will, as stated by that government department, continue to be in constant communication with international partners and competent institutions, in order to provide comprehensive support and coordinated action until the fires are completely brought under control.
"Montenegro remains permanently committed to fostering good neighborly relations, regional cooperation and international solidarity, the value of which is particularly confirmed at these times," the statement said.
