Democratic councilor in the Budva parliament Željko Franeta accused the Budva Our City coalition, SDP and DPS of giving a private company part of the municipal parking lot near the Health Center, which is why citizens received warnings today to remove their vehicles.
"Gentlemen from the 'project' coalition Budva naš grad, DPS and SDP, we have all had the opportunity to hear your public promises about legality, transparency and acting exclusively in the interests of citizens. You announced a new policy in which everything would function according to regulations, and the citizens of Budva would enjoy the results of a responsible government. However, practice shows that these promises were only part of a political show and deception, while in reality the already seen model of fighting for personal and party interests continues. Your latest move, which can hardly go unnoticed, is the subdivision of the municipal parking lot behind the Health Center and the Red Cross, and its transfer to a private company that has a motel and other rich accompanying content," Franeta announced and submitted documents and photographs.
As he emphasized, although the parking lot is owned by the Municipality, and although construction is planned on it, the Parking Service management transferred it into private hands, without public discussion, without transparency, and most importantly - without explanation.
"The result of such actions could be seen by all citizens this morning: notices appeared on legally parked vehicles stating that they must be removed, because the space is now managed as private. A simple question arises: on what basis, who gave consent, and with what right? Especially considering that this parking lot is used to support the functioning of the Health Center and services that serve citizens and tourists, and that with this action of the current authorities, elderly citizens who now have difficulty accessing the Health Center will suffer the most," Franeta pointed out.
He added: "Unfortunately, it doesn't stop there. Just a few weeks before the end of the season, the parking service leased another plot of land - across from the kindergarten - from a private construction company. It is obvious that they have started with all their might again with the practice that existed before 2016, with the motto 'where I stopped, you continue...'. It seems that the repayment of debts for 'project' support and the settlement of old debts are in effect," concluded Franeta.
