The Radio and Television of Montenegro (RTCG) employees' union announced that a strike "could easily occur" at the public service if management "does not respect workers" whose professions belong to production, programming and technology.
They claim that among the 100 highest-paid positions in the company, there are no production professions - journalists, cameramen, editors, sound engineers, producers, directors.
"Woe to the second if the first one tailors his hat, and it is not for him. The first one, who wonders, is overjoyed. Long ago secured. He has fulfilled his life's mission. He can say to himself smugly: 'My treasuries are full! My soul rejoices in carefreeness.' Such a person's stomach does not growl unless he is on some tik tok diet. It remained for him to rise culturally. That he listens to the classics to the point of unconsciousness and fills the ears of others around him with the classics, so that they too learn the true values. And regardless of the fact that he provided himself with an existence a long time ago, he is the first to take 3.500 euros plus various benefits. Monthly. Others, close to him, receive 2.660 euros plus various benefits. The following management rings take much more than the official average of the country in which they work. (That's why the general does not give up the 735.000 euros variable per year). How many of them deserve and who knows what is for a separate analysis. The first and second (close to him) are lawyers, economists and engineers who work in the most important media company in the country. That's why it doesn't matter to them that there are no production professions (journalists, videographers, editors, sound engineers, producers, directors) among the first 100 highest paid positions in the company. These in In parentheses are workers of the third rank who are far from the first. At the bottom of the scale. They produce the program and perform the tasks that make RTCG exist. They produce results that the first brags about. But they are at the bottom of the pay scale and cannot be unstuck. Negotiations have been going on for months to unstick them. But the first one does not want to make an effort to find a way to provide 300.000 euros annually and solve that problem. He does not want to partially transfer the unrealistically large 735.000 euros for variables into salaries and make those at the bottom of the scale feel like respected workers who can live with dignity from their work. But that's why the first will spend 3,7 million euros on the maintenance and adaptation of the building, which looks like a boiling pot with every heavy rain, since the beginning of his illegal mandate, and 300.000 euros on video surveillance, as if we were workers, or God forbid, prisoners, of the Spuška prison. The former will also give external collaborators 450.000 euros annually. Among they have full-time employees of the RTCG. We know who they are. They belong to those others for whom he is the first, and they are for him and they care about the fate of their colleagues with whom they collaborate on a daily basis and without whom they cannot do anything. Paycheck to paycheck puts the conscience to sleep and keeps the mouth shut," the announcement reads.
They say that five meetings have been held so far in the negotiation process.
"The management was explained in detail why it is important that workers in production, programming and technology are better positioned on the coefficient scale. And that it is not enough for only top management, sector managers and engineers from the New Union to be satisfied. The RTCG Employees' Union is ready to reduce the coefficient for all positions on the scale by 0.4, which would reduce annual salary costs by 250.000 euros compared to our original proposal. The ball is in the management's court. If they do not take into account workers whose professions belong to production, programming and technology and do not find a way to provide 300.000 euros annually, which would solve this situation that is essentially not complicated (because there is money for it in the budget weighing over 21 million), then after the first historic strike of RTCG workers in 2023, there could easily be another one. And all this during the mandate of the only illegal director of RTCG in its history," they said.
