Estonia has rich experience in digitalization, especially in the field of justice, and the transfer of this knowledge would be of particular value to Montenegro.
This was stated by the Deputy Prime Minister of Montenegro for Foreign and European Affairs, Filip Ivanović, at a meeting with the Minister of Justice and Digitalization of Estonia, Lisa Li Pakosta.
The focus of the conversation, as announced by Ivanovic's office, was cooperation in the field of digitalization, especially in the judicial system, where Estonia has rich experience and developed models.
Ivanovic emphasized that the transfer of this knowledge and expertise would be of particular value for Montenegro in the process of strengthening institutional capacities and increasing the efficiency of the judicial system.
Pakosta, as reported, emphasized that Estonia and Montenegro share the same values and said that Estonia would be happy to share not only its good experiences, but also the lessons learned from the challenges it has faced.
She presented in detail how the digitalized judicial system in Estonia functions, emphasizing the benefits it brings in terms of transparency, efficiency, and access to justice for citizens.
Ivanovic informed Pakosta about the course of Montenegro's accession negotiations and the progress made in key areas, especially in chapters 23 and 24, which relate to the rule of law, the fight against corruption and organized crime.
He stressed that one of the main goals of his visit to Estonia is to strengthen relations between the two countries, both through the alliance within NATO and through the intensification of bilateral cooperation and partnership in the European integration process.
Pakosta highlighted Estonia's strong support for Montenegro's European path, emphasizing the importance of the EU's enlargement policy.
The statement states that Ivanovic emphasized that Montenegro can be a success story of European enlargement, which would further contribute to strengthening the credibility of the Union itself.
At the end of the meeting, it was added, the possibility of organizing a meeting of the justice ministers of the two countries was discussed, in order to consider specific forms of cooperation and exchange of knowledge in the field of digitalization of the judiciary.
"The importance of strengthening partnerships in the field of cybersecurity and information technologies, where Estonia has leading experience and expertise, was also highlighted," the statement said.
