The non-governmental organization "Euromost" has asked the Basic State Prosecutor's Office to investigate whether state property - a part of the sidewalk - has been usurped for months in the city center of Bijelo Polje, where construction work is underway on a building under the city park.

In a response to "Vijesti", the Secretariat for Inspection Affairs stated that the inspector immediately ordered the removal of obstacles and the restoration of the area to its original condition.

According to the NGO, they have also requested to investigate the officials in the Secretariat for Inspection Affairs, who have not reacted to the usurpation of municipal roads and sidewalks for months.

"The photographs and videos show how the sidewalk used by the citizens of Bijelo Polje has been fenced off, and how it has been dug under the sidewalk, which puts citizens in danger, as they have to move along the street used by vehicles," the NGO points out.

As they state, they have reason to suspect that the investor has also illegally occupied and fenced off plot number 1129/2 KO Bijelo Polje, which can be seen on the geoportal. The said plot is owned by the Government, while the Municipality of Bijelo Polje disposes of it. They point out that about ten days ago they also contacted the Municipal Police with a request to immediately order the investor to remove it from state property and sidewalks, and also for the investor to secure the entire construction site in accordance with the Law on Construction of Structures, but that nothing has been done, which is why they expect the competent urban planning inspection to be involved, in addition to the Bijelo Polje ODT.

The building investor is Hajriz Brčvak, that is, his B2B company.

Secretary of the Secretariat for Inspection Affairs Muzafer Badzic told "Vijesti" that the competent inspector, after receiving a report of the usurpation of a public area, went to the scene and carried out an inspection.

"On that occasion, in the presence of the construction site managers, it was determined that the investor had occupied part of the sidewalk. As explained by the contractor, the said area was temporarily closed for safety reasons, given that the works were being carried out in direct line with the public area (sidewalk), and accordingly, there was a need to protect pedestrians from possible risks at the construction site. The inspector immediately ordered the removal of obstacles and the return of the area to its original condition. The procedure is ongoing, and the occupied space is expected to be released in the coming period, in order to enable citizens to move freely," said Badžić.

He stated that the Secretariat for Inspection Affairs will continue to monitor the implementation of the issued order and inform the public in a timely manner.
