On the occasion of the beginning of the new school year, a team from the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation (MESI), consisting of state secretaries and directors general of directorates, led by Minister Anđela Jakšić-Stojanović, visited schools across Montenegro.
"By attending the ceremonial welcoming of the first-year students, they wanted to share the joy with the students, teachers and parents, but also to provide clear support to the educational community at the very beginning of one of the most important journeys in life - schooling," the Ministry of Education and Science said in a statement.
The government department added that Jakšić-Stojanović and her team - Director of the Directorate for Preschool and Primary Education Svetlana Drobnjak and Secretary Marko Šljukić - wished the first-year students of the "Radoje Čizmović" Elementary School a happy start to their education, along with the school principal, Milena Danilović, and their teachers.
"State Secretary Dragan Marković attended the ceremony at the 'Meksko' Elementary School in Bar and the 'Boško Strugar' Elementary School in Ulcinj, while State Secretary Fikret Lulanaj stayed in the north, at the '25. maj' Elementary School in Rožaje and the 'Mahmut Adrović' Elementary School in Petnjica. State Secretary Tatjana Ćalasan visited the students of the 'Sutjeska' Elementary School in Podgorica, and then the 'Mahmut Lekić' Elementary School in Tuzi, while the Director General of the Directorate for International Cooperation Marko Vukašinović was in Bijelo Polje, at the 'Mladost' and 'Marko Miljanov' schools. The Director General of the Directorate for Scientific Research Marica Melović attended the ceremony at the 'Novka Ubović' Elementary School in Podgorica," the Ministry of Education and Science said.
They stated that at the same time, the Acting (acting) Director General of the Directorate for Innovation and Smart Specialization Ivana Janković-Mijanović joined the students of the "Mirko Srzentić" Elementary School in Petrovac, while the Director of the Directorate for Secondary and Vocational Education Marija Gošović visited the "Vuk Karadžić" Elementary School in Berane.
The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology said that the director of the Directorate for Lifelong Learning, Jasna Jovanović, was also in Berane and attended the ceremony at the "Vukašin Radunović" Elementary School.
"On the coast, the acting general director of the Directorate for Education and Upbringing of Minority Peoples and Other Minority National Communities, Dragan Mijušković, visited the 'Milan Vuković' Elementary School in Herceg Novi, as well as the 'Jovan Draganić' Elementary School in Petrovići," the Ministry of Education and Training said.
On this occasion, the Ministry of Education and Science said that they extend their sincere congratulations to all students who are starting their school journey today, as well as to those who are continuing their education.
"We express special gratitude to teachers, lecturers and professors, whose work is of essential importance for the future of our children and society. The future of our children also represents the future of the entire society. That is why we extend our sincerest wishes to all students and teachers for a successful and meaningful school year - a year filled with knowledge, joy and new achievements," said the Ministry of Education and Science.
The school year began today in Montenegro in 163 primary schools and 52 secondary schools. Around 70.000 primary school students have returned to school, of which nearly 8.000 are first-year students, as well as around 27.000 secondary school students.
