The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) announced today that, due to the announced meteorological situation in Montenegro, and in order to respond promptly and efficiently, the Directorate for Protection and Rescue of the MUP sent a warning to all participants in the protection and rescue system and pointed out the need to increase operational readiness.
"Namely, meteorologists have announced that rain, showers and thunderstorms are expected in the period from the evening hours today, during the night between Wednesday and Thursday (September 10 and 11), as well as tomorrow in the morning hours. Locally, more intense showers with larger amounts of precipitation in a short time interval are possible. The most pronounced precipitation is expected in the southern and central regions, where short-term weather conditions are possible in some places. In the zone of thunderclouds, strong, and sometimes very strong winds are possible. The sea will be wavy in the open. Given the aforementioned meteorological conditions, localized problems on the ground are possible, due to short-term heavy precipitation (flooding of urban areas, difficult traffic, torrential waters, etc.)," the statement emphasizes.
The Ministry of the Interior added that all relevant services have been notified to be on alert, and that the Directorate for Protection and Rescue remains in constant contact with all relevant services in order to adequately respond to any possible consequences of the weather conditions.
"We appeal to citizens to follow official announcements and protection measures and act in accordance with the recommendations of the competent institutions," the Ministry of Interior said in a statement.
