The landscaping of the promenade on Ljubović Hill began today, and the works are planned to last 110 working days.
Ljubović Hill, along with the Gorica park-forest, is one of the most popular places for walking and recreation.
Podgorica Mayor Saša Mujović said that this is one of the symbols of the city, emphasizing the importance of preserving such spaces, which represents an important step towards improving the quality of life.
"Today we have started a very important project to build a promenade on Ljubović Hill, which is one of the symbols of Podgorica, and through this project it will gain new value. The length of the promenade is 600 meters, with two arms and a width of 3,12m, while the value of the works is around 668.000 euros. The works should be completed in 110 working days and I am convinced that with the completion of this project we will get a beautiful, green oasis, a place for sports, recreation, walking and something that Podgorica certainly needs," said Mujović.
As announced by the Capital City, in addition to the promenade, which will be fenced and equipped with all accompanying amenities, landscaping of the area is also planned.
The project envisages 2.603 square meters of green areas, within which rows of pine nuts, cypresses, horse chestnuts and red-flowered chestnuts will be planted. The plan is to plant oleanders, jasmine and viburnums as shrubby greenery. The lawn will extend along the entire promenade, in a two-meter-wide strip on both sides. Special emphasis is placed on preserving views and carefully integrating the greenery into the existing landscape of Ljubović Hill.
Mujović also announced the imminent announcement of a public call for proposals for the development of the Main Project for the reconstruction of Božana Vučinić Square, the start of work on the reconstruction of the former Jusovača prison, as well as the construction of the East Stand of the City Stadium.
"I think that in the past period we have shown responsibility and dedication in our work and initiated things that have been waiting for a long time in the city, and which are a dire need for Podgorica," said Mujović.
