MKM: It is not true that we did not react, we clearly demanded the prosecution of those responsible for the interruption of the film screening

The Ministry of Culture and Media announced that it is not true that the department and the umbrella institutions of film art did not react in a timely manner to the interruption of the screening of the film "Roda" as part of the Jada Film Fest in Podgorica.

"After the incident, the Ministry of Culture and Media, the Montenegrin Cinematheque and the Film Center of Montenegro jointly issued an official statement in which they expressed concern about the event, emphasized that art is a space for freedom and dialogue, praised the quick response of the police and clearly requested that those responsible be prosecuted by the competent institutions," it says in response to today's allegations by a group of NGOs and civic activists.

They emphasize that in the statement they also expressed "full support for the festival organizers" and offered additional screenings of the film in state cultural institutions, so that the audience and authors receive the support they deserve.

"We remind you that Montenegro inherits a wealth of languages, cultures and communal life, and the Ministry of Culture and Media will continue to consistently respond to any attempt to threaten these values," the ministry said.
