The president of the Democratic People's Party (DNP), Milan Knežević, said that if a collector is built in the Zeta settlement of Botun, he will ask the councilors to leave the local government in Podgorica, but that he will not ask his ministers in the Government of Montenegro to do so.
He responded to a question from "Vijesti" about whether he would recall the DNP ministers from the government, given that the public had not heard that they opposed the Spatial and Urban Plan of Podgorica, which, in addition to the construction of a wastewater treatment plant in Botun, envisages the construction of another similar plant in the part of Zeta towards Plavnica.
"The government will not be threatened. A coalition will be formed with DPS and Duško Marković. Work is already underway on that," Knežević said at a press conference.
He stressed that the DNP will not leave power at the state level. He said that they exercise significant influence.
"We see no reason to leave."
Criminal charges filed against Gazdić
The President of the Municipality of Zeta, Mihailo Asanović and Knežević, filed a criminal complaint against the Director of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Milan Gazdić, for failing to remediate red mud in the pool of the Aluminum Plant (KAP).
As Asanović claims, Gazdić committed a series of criminal acts and abused his official position.
The Environmental Protection Agency has given the Capital City approval for the Environmental Impact Assessment Study for the project to build a wastewater treatment system, the construction of which is planned in the KAP industrial zone, on urban plots located in the cadastral municipality of Dajbabe.
As Asanović said at a press conference, the EPA is required to obtain a permit for the reconstruction of the KAP red mud pool within two years.
Asanović also said that the EPA has no right to do so.
According to his claims, Gazdić abused his official position because he provided the WEF Kolektor company from Berane with benefits in the form of costs that the company did not bear because it did not take preventive measures.
Secretary for Spatial Planning, Environmental Protection and Traffic of the Municipality of Zeta, Jelena Aligrudić, said that they had not received the documentation "that they need in the fight."
They requested documentation for project financing from the World Bank, as well as all relevant documents.
"We believe that it is in the public interest to provide full and transparent access to documentation, and this has not been provided," she said.
Knežević said that in the previous period, the incompetence of the commissions could be seen, as well as "ill-mannered behavior towards the citizens of Botun."
He said that he decided today to "break" the profession that had been advertising itself in the previous period.
Knežević called ecologists "swastologists", adding that they are also "civic tycoons with vested interests who are ready to sacrifice 16.000 residents of Zeta".
"... Just to get five or ten percent from some project. They are constantly deceiving the Montenegrin public and want to exclude the influence of KAP on life in Zeta, as well as to exclude the influence of KAP with the planned wastewater treatment plant. Listening to Mayor Mujović, it turns out that the collector will be in the shape of a drone, that it will not be on the ground, that it will not be right next to the red mud pool," he said.
He asked the commissions whether they had access to documents showing that the level of pollution in Botun was "like Chernobyl".
Knežević claims that the EPA hid the Environmental Impact Assessment Report of the reconstruction of the red mud basin.
He said that he would "hang" the study so that the citizens of Montenegro could see it.
He emphasized that during composting of materials, an odor spreads.
"It remains for us to defend the right to our environment. The rallies will show the mass presence and determination of the people of Zeća...".
Responding to a question from "Vijesti" about whether he is close to Podgorica Mayor Saša Mujović's offer to rehabilitate the red mud pool, given the fact that when the wind blows in the summer, the red mud is blown all the way to Ljajković, Knežević replied that "he has the feeling that Mujović was sleeping next to the pool when he made that statement."
Knežević reminded that the remediation of the red mud basin was "the state's obligation."
