Bijelić: Government ready to provide 25 million euros if Nikšić wins the title of European Capital of Culture

The head of the Europe Now Movement's parliamentary group in Nikšić, Radovan Bijelić, claims that the Government, if Nikšić wins the title of European Capital of Culture, is ready to provide 25 million euros for the implementation of that project.

"We thank the Government of Montenegro for supporting the candidacy of the Municipality of Nikšić for the prestigious title of European Capital of Culture in 2030. This support is reflected in direct financial assistance - the Government of Montenegro is ready to provide as much as 25 million euros for the implementation of this multi-year project if our municipality wins the title of European Capital of Culture, which clearly confirms the strategic commitment to the development of Nikšić as a cultural and creative center," said Bijelić.

He explained that the total project budget is 40 million euros, of which four million euros are planned to be provided from EU grants, while the remaining amount will be provided by the Municipality of Nikšić from its own and partner sources.

"This project will open the door to significant infrastructure and cultural investments in the next seven years, but also give a new development perspective to our city. Nikšić has the strength, vision and support to position itself as a European city of culture. We believe that we will know how to seize this opportunity if we get the chance - in the interest of all citizens," the statement reads.
