Residents of Ravna Rijeka blocked the main road at the roundabout in Ribarevine for an hour yesterday, protesting the manner in which work was being carried out on the reconstruction of the Ribarevine - Slijepač Most section, reports the Vijesti portal from Bijelo Polje.
Those gathered are demanding that the project be revised to include the construction of sidewalks and public lighting, while also asking that safe passage be ensured through the area where work is currently being carried out.
Acting President of the Local Community "Ravna Rijeka" Gojko Nedović He said that residents will not give up on pressure on the authorities until they receive a written guarantee that their demands will be met.
"We are asking them to build a pedestrian path and lighting, and before that, we are asking them to arrange a passage for us at the places where the works are being carried out, because the locals, both the elderly and the disabled and children, cannot pass through. Simply put, the entire settlement is not functional, not only Ravna Rijeka but also the surrounding area," said Nedović.
He announced that, if an agreement is not reached, the locals will block the contractor's machinery instead of the highway in the future, so as not to create additional traffic jams.
Locals also claim that part of the embankment from the construction site was illegally sold, and they have informed the relevant institutions about this.
The protest was also supported by residents of Ribarevino and surrounding settlements. Matija Radović He pointed out that the construction of sidewalks and lighting would increase the safety of all road users, especially children going to school.
