The Center for Bird Protection and Research (CZIP) will donate and install 10 electric fences as part of the project "Encouraging Coexistence - Mitigation and Education for Sustainable Conservation of Brown Bears in the Balkans", with the aim of improving the quality of coexistence between humans and bears.
CZIP invited all registered agricultural farms from Montenegro that are engaged in beekeeping to apply for the competition.
"In the last few months, the public has often talked about the appearance of bears in rural areas, areas where people run farms, as well as reported damage, among other things, to apiaries, so we decided to use the preventive measure of installing electric fences to protect apiaries and brown bears, as key items for the preservation of biodiversity and sustainable development of rural communities. Through this project, we will implement a series of activities aimed at reducing conflict, improving the coexistence of humans and bears, and raising awareness of the importance of this species," the CZIP statement said.

Activities are implemented through the BOOST program, with the support of the French Development Agency (AFD) and ALDA Europe.
