The Environmental Protection Agency announced that, in anticipation of the Ecological State Day, in cooperation with the Secretariat of the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions (BRS/UNEP), they organized beach cleaning actions in Bar, as part of the project: "Improving the Plastic Waste Management System in Montenegro".
"During today's action, the beaches in Sutomore, Čanj, Šušanj and on the City Beach were cleaned, while thanks to the support of AD Marina Bar, a special activity was also carried out - cleaning the seabed in the marina's waters, carried out by professional divers," the statement reads.
In addition to representatives of the organizers, students of the Secondary Vocational School and Gymnasium "Niko Rolović" participated in the action, along with professors, as well as representatives of the Bar Public Utility Company, volunteers and citizens.
"The enthusiasm and energy of young people were particularly outstanding, as they showed that they were ready to take on the role of leaders in preserving nature and promoting sustainable values in their community," they added.
The Director of the Environmental Protection Agency, Milan Gazdić, said that plastic waste is "one of the biggest environmental challenges of today" and stressed that "only by acting together can we prevent its further spread." He emphasized the importance of education and youth participation, as well as gratitude to schools, the Bar Municipal Enterprise and partners for their commitment.
"The Environmental Protection Agency expresses its gratitude to all participants for their selfless contribution and support, with the belief that such actions will continue to inspire and connect the community around the goal of preserving Montenegro's natural resources," the statement reads.
