Commodore Darko Vuković took over the duty of Commander of the Navy of the Army of Montenegro (VCG) from the previous head of the unit, Milan Jevtović.

The Ministry of Defense announced that the ceremonial handover of duties of the Commander of the Navy of the Armed Forces of Montenegro was attended by the Chief of the General Staff, Miodrag Vuksanović.

Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Montenegro Miodrag Vuksanović, who visited the Navy today, said that the handover of duties to the first man of that unit is a confirmation of the continuity and durability of the defense system.

"I congratulate Commodore Vuković on assuming this responsible position and thank Frigate Captain Jevtović for his dedication and contribution to the development of the Navy," Vuksanović emphasized.

He said that the Navy of the Armed Forces of Montenegro has achieved significant results, from participation in international missions and operations, to improving its own capacities and standards.

Vuksanović reminded that the construction of two new patrol ships for the needs of the Navy of the Armed Forces of Montenegro in France is underway and that the completion of the new building of the Command of that unit is expected soon.

He said that the General Staff and the Ministry of Defense will continue to improve the working and living conditions of Navy members.

"I am certain that Vuković, relying on his previous experience and the team he leads, will continue on the path of development and dedication. I believe that the Navy will continue to be recognized as an important factor in the security of Montenegro," said Vuksanović.

The new Navy Commander, Vuković, emphasized that he is ready to continue strengthening the capabilities and modernization of the Navy, together with his colleagues from that unit.

"It is a great honor for me to take on the role of Commander of the Navy of the Armed Forces of Montenegro. I will be dedicated to further improving operational capacities, modernizing assets, and even closer cooperation with allies within the Alliance. We will continue to preserve tradition, but also to build a Navy ready for future challenges," Vuković emphasized.

Jevtović thanked his associates, emphasizing that it was a privilege to command the Navy of the Armed Forces of Montenegro.

"I am particularly proud of the professionalism of our members, who have shown that they are ready to respond to any task. Together we have managed to implement many important activities, including improved sea surveillance systems, the acquisition of new patrol boats, and the initiation of projects to build new patrol boats and the Command building," said Jevtović.

He thanked his colleagues and superiors for their support, and wished Vuković much success.

During the visit, the delegation led by Vuksanović visited the anchorage and vessels of the Navy of the Armed Forces of Montenegro, as well as the "People's Hero Petar Pero Ćetković" barracks in Bar, where the construction of the new Command building is underway.
