As part of the national environmental protection campaign "Take care, let it take care of you", and on the occasion of the European Coastal Cleanup Day, a multi-day campaign to rehabilitate the hinterland of Velika Plaza in Ulcinj has begun, an area burdened with illegal landfills and, unfortunately, just one of the endangered areas in this area, the European House announced.

As they stated, the initiative of the EU Delegation, which has traditionally marked this important European day with similar actions, was responded to by key partners of the national campaign: the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Northern Development, embassies of EU member states, the Municipality of Ulcinj, the Police Directorate, the Directorate for Spatial Protection, the Central Bank of Montenegro, non-governmental organizations Let's Green Montenegro and Zero Waste Montenegro, as well as numerous local partners, including the Dr. Martin Šnajder Jakobi Foundation and students of the "Bratstvo–Jedinstvo" Mixed Secondary School.

EU Ambassador in Montenegro Johan Sattler He said that this is "the second illegal landfill that, through our efforts and with the help of partners from all spheres of Montenegrin society, we are successfully transforming into a well-maintained public space with benches, surveillance cameras and notices."

"I am particularly encouraged by the establishment of a multidisciplinary team to combat environmental crime, because it is not enough to clean up and remediate, institutions must have an effective response to every act in the field of environmental crime. Only in this way can Montenegro respond to the challenges of Chapter 27, but, more importantly, preserve the beautiful Montenegrin nature for future generations," said Satler.

Minister of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Development of the North Damjan Ćulafić, thanked everyone who helped in fulfilling the numerous obligations under Chapter 27, and especially the EU Delegation to Montenegro headed by Sattler.
