DNP: Mujović to publish the contract signed by Vuković and explain where it says that Podgorica is losing 100 million euros

The Podgorica committee and the Democratic People's Party (DNP) councilors' club have called on the capital's mayor, Saša Mujović, to publish the contract for the construction of a wastewater treatment plant in Botun, signed by former mayor Ivan Vuković. They are also demanding that Mujović explain to the public how Podgorica is losing 100 million euros and in which article of the contract it is written.

They also called on the Special State Prosecutor's Office (SDT) to investigate the contract.

"At the meeting held last night by the Municipal Board and the DNP Podgorica parliamentary group, strong and unanimous support was expressed for the party president Milan Knežević and all his previous activities. In his address to the members of the municipal board, Knežević recalled the chronology of the activities of the DNP parliamentary group and the numerous challenges that the party has faced during these nine months of the current year. At the meeting, a conclusion was adopted by which the Municipal Board and the DNP Podgorica parliamentary group call on the SDT to examine the contract that former mayor Ivan Vuković signed with two Turkish companies for the construction of a collector in Botun, at a time when the environmental impact studies had not been completed. It is particularly worrying that out of the 33 million grants received, over 13 and a half million have already been paid out for so-called consulting services, and 80 percent of outdated equipment was purchased, without consultation and consent of the residents of Botun, which is an obligation arising from the Aarhus Convention. The Municipal Board calls on Mayor Saša Mujović to publish the contract signed by Ivan "Vuković, and explain to the public how Podgorica is losing 100 million euros, and in which article of the contract it is written. Signing a harmful contract is a criminal offense, and it is the prosecutor's obligation to ex officio file a case against Ivan Vuković," the statement reads.

The Podgorica DNP and the party's councilors' club also called on Mujović to "reduce inflammatory and exclusionary messages that additionally create tensions through targeting" the residents of Botun and Zeta in public appearances.

"The general conclusion from last night's session is that Mayor Mujović urgently initiates a dialogue with the citizens of Botun and representatives of the Zeta municipality in order to contribute to calming tensions and finding solutions that will not endanger the environment in Botun and Upper Zeta," the statement reads.
