The members of the RTCG Council were elected by the competent institutions, in accordance with the applicable procedures. The SNP does not wish to enter into the merits of the court, but recalls that the members of the Council performed their functions honorably and responsibly, guided by the interests of citizens and the independence of the public service.
This was announced by the Socialist People's Party (SNP), commenting on the first-instance verdict of the Basic Court, which found the president and some members of the Radio Television of Montenegro (RTCG) Council guilty of abuse of official position.

"Who cares about RTCG serving the citizens, not under the baton of any government? Isn't that what we've been asking for and advocating for for years - for the media to be independent? And now, when we've got it, should we dismiss the people who fought for the independence of the media space and replace them with those who are suitable for someone else? The question is clear: who needs it and in whose interest?", the SNP asks.
They add that the party appreciates the contribution of the members of the RTCG Council and gives full support to anyone who fights to ensure that RTCG remains in the service of citizens.
"Because without an independent public service, there is no trust in institutions, nor a truly democratic society," the SNP concluded.
