We are ready to decisively, through democratic means, oppose attempts at disintegration, fascist phenomena and ideas of redrawing borders and revising the past, the Bosniak Council in Montenegro announced today.
The statement states that the Bosniak Council in Montenegro congratulates all compatriots on September 28th - Bosniak Day.
"This great date is reminiscent of the time when, at the First Bosniak Assembly, the national name - Bosniak - was restored, and the native Bosnian language was once again called by its true name. 32 years ago, on September 27 and 28, in occupied Sarajevo, with their gathering and decision, the most distinguished and most important intellectuals gave a unique response that defended the historical right to their own identity, name and existence. Bosniak Day is an opportunity to remind ourselves of the common past and identity of the people and all the values that shaped it in its historical areas. Established and indigenous in our centuries-old hearths, we live in different countries - Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia, Croatia, Kosovo, North Macedonia, and around the world in the diaspora, but with full awareness of belonging to a single people," the statement of the Bosniak Council in Montenegro, signed by President Suljo Mustafić, emphasizes.
The statement added that Bosniaks in their homeland of Montenegro, as well as in the countries of the region, are committed to coexistence with others and respect for diversity, supporting the prosperity and democratic development of civil society, and that they want to build bridges of cooperation and integration.
"However, aware of the challenges and circumstances in which we live, we are ready to decisively, by democratic means, oppose attempts at disintegration, fascist phenomena and ideas of redrawing borders and revising the past. Our national unity rests on belonging to the same cultural, linguistic and religious identity, and on full maturity and awareness of the great ups and downs, but also the difficult trials that we have gone through in the distant and recent past. We want to strengthen cooperation with the aim of building joint institutions that will systematically and thoroughly take care of common needs and unite spiritual and creative potentials, especially in the field of research, preservation and presentation of our national heritage," the Bosniak Council in Montenegro said in a statement.
The council said that on Sunday, September 28, all Bosniak councils from the region will gather at a large ceremonial academy and a special program in Novi Pazar, organized by the Parent Association and the Bosniak Council household in Serbia, with numerous guests and guests, to mark the holiday that symbolizes Bosniak national unity.
