The parliamentary group of the Civic Movement URA has submitted amendments to the proposed amendments to the Criminal Code of Montenegro, in the part that relates to penalties for the criminal offense of sexual intercourse with a child, announced the vice president of the Civic Movement URA and MP in the Parliament of Montenegro, Milena Vuković.

She assessed that the existing penal provisions are not sufficient to respond to the gravity of this crime and to provide adequate justice to the victims.

"URA will therefore insist that amendments to the code send a clear message that there is no tolerance for child abuse in Montenegro. Our goal is to provide significantly harsher penalties for these most serious forms of violence, because we believe that the protection of children must be the absolute priority of society and the state," explained Vuković.

He emphasized that the URA, in cooperation with experts in the fields of law, psychology and child protection, will propose concrete solutions that will ensure that the state's penal policy is aligned with the highest standards of child protection and human rights.

"URA will continue to consistently work on strengthening the justice system and building a society in which every child feels safe and protected," concluded Vuković.
