The Basic Court in Podgorica annulled the decision of the Radio and Television Council of Montenegro (RTCG) to appoint Boris Raonić as the general director of that media outlet, assessing that the decision did not contain a valid explanation and that objective and measurable criteria were not applied when selecting the candidate.

The decision was made following a lawsuit filed by one of the candidates in the last competition, music editor at RTCG Slaven Knezović.

The Court stated that the Council did not clearly state the reasons why Raonić's work plan was assessed as more aligned with the RTCG Development Strategy than the plans of the other candidates, nor on what grounds it achieved "significant growth in viewership".

The verdict was signed by judge Mladen Paunović, and an appeal against it is allowed to the Higher Court in Podgorica within eight days.

"I hope that the long-standing degradation of professionals and RTCG by a multiple illegal director will finally stop," Slaven Knezović, one of the candidates for director general in the latest competition, told TV Vijesti.
