The Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (ASK), acting ex officio, determined that Nikola Jovanović violated the Law on the Prevention of Corruption because, as a public official, he received compensation from more than one working body in the same months of 2022 and earned 8.210 euros.
This is stated in the decision that "Vijesti" had access to, and which is signed by the acting director of ASK, Dušan Drakić.
Jovanović, the current mayor of Budva, was the chief of staff of the then mayor, Marko Carević, during that year, then the city manager, and after that the president of the Municipal Assembly.
"It is established that public official Nikola Jovanović violated Article 11, paragraph 4 of the Law on the Prevention of Corruption because, as a public official, during 2022, in the same months, he received compensation from more than one working body, namely, based on membership in the Commission for the Development of a Plan for Protection and Rescue from Fires and Natural Disasters, the amount of 2.000 euros; based on membership in the Commission for 2022, and then normative affairs, the amount of 3.300 euros; based on membership in the Commission for the Distribution of Funds to Sports Organizations, the amount of 1.550 euros; based on membership in the Commission for the Verification of Personnel, the amount of 60 euros; based on membership in the Commission for the Distribution of Funds for Women's Entrepreneurship, the amount of 900 euros and based on membership in the Commission for the Development of Agriculture, the amount of 400 euros, thus violating the legal provisions relating to restrictions on the performance of public functions," the decision states.
An inspection of the Agency's register of public officials, as stated in the explanation, determined that Jovanović served as Head of the Office of the Mayor from September 25, 2021 to July 4, 2022, and then as City Manager until November 8, 2022, and then as President of the Municipal Assembly from November 8, 2022 to July 7, 2024.
