Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) Joanikije met today at the Cetinje Monastery with the Ambassador of Israel to Montenegro and Serbia, Avivit Bar-Ilan, and on that occasion, among other things, they agreed on the importance of the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
"The Ambassador and the Metropolitan emphasized the importance of good relations between our two peoples, both in the past and today. It was emphasized that many Orthodox Christians from Montenegro and the region gladly visit the Holy Land, and also that Montenegro is one of the favorite destinations of tourists from Israel," the Metropolitanate of Montenegro and the Littoral announced.
The interlocutors, as announced, "agreed on the exceptional importance of the ceasefire in Gaza", the return of the hostages and "the cessation of suffering on both conflicting sides", with the hope that "the achieved peace will influence the calming of hostilities in other parts of the world".
"The meeting ended with the expectation that relations between Israel and Montenegro and our peoples will continue to improve," the statement reads.
