European Union councilor Miloš Mašković called on members of the Council of Radio and Television Podgorica to dismiss Vladimir Otašević from the position of executive director of that local public broadcaster.
"After the Labor Inspectorate confirmed that television editor Milan Sekulović and his deputy Nemanja Lacman were illegally employed at RTV Podgorica, citizens need to know another important piece of information. During the months-long absence of executive director Vladimir Otašević, the RTV Podgorica Council authorized Nemanja Lacman - a person who has now been officially declared illegally employed - to perform tasks within the competence of the executive director. This raises the question of the legal validity of all decisions made by Lacman during that period, since he did not have the legal right to perform even the basic editorial function, let alone take over the competences of the director," Mašković announced.
RTV Podgorica, he said, "has thereby shown that lawlessness has entered the very essence of its work."
"I call on the members of the RTV Podgorica Council to finally take responsibility and dismiss Vladimir Otašević from the position of executive director. After the confirmed findings of the inspection, it is clear that this is a man who knowingly tolerated and enabled illegal employment, thereby jeopardizing the legality and already damaged credibility of the entire institution. The question also arises as to whose interest it was that Sekulović and Lacman shaped the editorial policy of the local public broadcaster through illegal employment," said Mašković.
