The Civil Aviation Agency of Montenegro (CAA) and the Municipality of Tivat, through the Municipal Police, will jointly work to prevent and combat the illegal use of drones at the local level.
This is stipulated in the Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Suppression of Illegal Use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, which was signed today at the Agency by the Director of the CAA, Ivan Šćekić, and the Mayor of the Municipality of Tivat, Željko Komnenović, the CAA announced.
Due to the proximity of the city to the local international airport, Tivat is the first municipality with which the Agency begins this type of cooperation, in order to strengthen control in this area at the local level.
The use of drones in Boka Bay, over which a large part of the strictly controlled so-called CTR zone of Tivat airport is located, due to the tourist attractiveness of this area, real estate and tourism-related businesses, is significantly more frequent than in the contact area of the CTR zone of Podgorica airport, so it is logical that the CAA, which strives to strictly control the use of drones for the sake of air traffic safety, signed the first agreement of this type with the Municipality of Tivat and its Municipal Police.
"With the agreement, we confirm our joint commitment to improving the safety and security of air traffic through cooperation at the local level. Our goal is the responsible and safe use of drones in the interest of preserving safe skies, protecting citizens and property," is the joint assessment of Šćekić and Komnenović.
The document defines cooperation through timely exchange of information and coordinated action in the field, to protect air traffic, citizens and property, and prevent illegal activities.
The Municipal Police of the Municipality of Tivat will, as specified, take measures within its jurisdiction in cases of suspected illegal use of drones, including establishing the identity of persons and checking the data of drone operators and pilots, and, if necessary, provide support to the Agency in supervision and control.
The Civil Aviation Agency carries out activities within its jurisdiction and will inform the Municipality and the Municipal Police about zones in which the use of drones is prohibited, restricted or permitted under certain conditions, and provide relevant data on registered drone operators and drone pilots, in accordance with the law.
