The Skočiđevojka site has been declared a cultural asset and placed under state protection, permanently protected from future attempts at devastation, the Ministry of Defense announced.
The government department said that, from the moment they learned that an attempt was being made to build a megalomaniacal project at that location that would permanently disrupt the ambiance of the village of Rijeka Reževići, it was imperative for them to undertake everything that the law and institutions recognize as a means to stop this major abuse.
It is stated that the Ministry's imperative was to do everything possible to stop the influx of capital of dubious origin and preserve one of the most beautiful parts of the Montenegrin coast.
"The inevitable fact is that in today's circumstances and opportunities, Skočiđevojka has multiple possible potential, from historical-tourist to archaeological-cultural, and that it is our obligation to all generations to preserve and valorize it in the way our historical military site deserves," the statement says.
It is added that the obligation was also to show that "those who dare or think that they are stronger than the state and will be able to pursue their interests as before, will not be able to do so."
"And that as such they are not desirable, that they will be sanctioned and that there is no trade with Montenegro and its institutions," the statement said.
The Ministry stated that this is a site that every serious state will protect from the attacks of capital, which often does not respect the uniqueness of such sites.
As they said, actions have been taken that a modern European country such as Montenegro should take when it comes to stopping capital of dubious origin.
"We succeeded, this site has been declared a cultural asset, which places it under permanent protection from future attempts at devastation, and we take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped achieve this extremely important goal," the Ministry said.
They pointed out that they succeeded because a strong state is one that protects its own historical and cultural heritage and protects its identity and integrity.
"We have succeeded and are pleased that we are using this example to show that the era of degradation and devastation of space, the rush of capital aimed at achieving the individual interests of various construction cartels and clans, is a thing of the past and let them know, we repeat, that there is no place here for capital of dubious origin," the statement concludes.
