Montenegro is achieving significant results in the fight against international drug trafficking networks, but is also recording visible progress in reducing drug abuse within the country, said Minister of Interior Danilo Šaranović.

He met today in Podgorica with representatives of the Commission on Drug Policy of Eastern and Central Europe and Central Asia (ECECACD), as part of a regional visit dedicated to improving cooperation and exchanging experiences in the field of combating drug abuse and trafficking.

Representatives of the Commission introduced Šaranović to the key initiatives of the ECECACD, aimed at strengthening public health, developing evidence-based policies, and protecting human rights.

They particularly emphasized the importance of reducing stigma towards drug users and supporting their social reintegration, emphasizing that they are ready to provide Montenegro with professional and practical support in further improving preventive and educational programs, the Ministry of Interior announced.
