State Prosecutor's Office: New Code of Ethics for State Prosecutors adopted

The Supreme State Prosecutor's Office (SPO) announced today that the Conference of State Prosecutors adopted a new Code of Ethics, which further strengthens the ethical principles and rules of conduct of state prosecutors and more closely regulates the procedure for determining violations of the Code of Ethics of State Prosecutors.

"On October 31 and November 1, the Days of State Prosecutors of Montenegro were held in Budva, bringing together state prosecutors from all state prosecutors' offices for working meetings, presentations and expert discussions dedicated to strengthening efficiency, professional standards and cooperation. The Conference of State Prosecutors adopted a new Code of Ethics, which further strengthens the ethical principles and rules of conduct of state prosecutors and more closely regulates the procedure for determining violations of the Code of Ethics of State Prosecutors. By adopting this document, state prosecutors confirm their commitment to legality, impartiality and professional integrity, which contributes to strengthening public trust in the work of state prosecutors," the statement states.

The State Prosecutor's Office added that during the State Prosecutors' Day, a World Bank study on the efficiency, quality and independence of the prosecutorial system was presented, as well as this year's State Prosecutor's Office Bulletin.

"As part of the professional part of the program, Dijana Popović Gavranović, Head of the Professional Service at the Supreme State Prosecutor's Office, gave a presentation on the topic 'The Impact of High-Conflict Divorce on Child Testimony', while the coordinators for monitoring the instructions of the Supreme State Prosecutor - Maja Janković, Danka Ivanović Đerić, Danka Živković and Armin Selmanović - exchanged experiences on their implementation and provided recommendations for further harmonization of practice in acting according to the aforementioned instructions. This year's Days of State Prosecutors confirmed the commitment of the prosecutorial organization to improving knowledge and ethical values, with the clear goal of the State Prosecutor's Office continuing to strengthen its independence through independent, efficient and objective actions of state prosecutors," the statement reads.
