On the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of St. Nicholas, the Constitutional Court has announced a competition for the best student essay on the topic "From freedom to constitutionality - do the ideals of the Constitution of St. Nicholas still live in contemporary Montenegro?"
The right to participate in the competition is open to undergraduate law students at the University of Montenegro, Mediterranean University and the University of Donja Gorica.
The best works will be selected by a three-member committee, and in addition to the plaque, cash prizes will be awarded in the following amounts: first prize - 500 euros, second prize - 300 euros, third prize - 200 euros.
"By marking 120 years since the adoption of the first written constitutional act of Montenegro, we celebrate our tradition and constitutional culture. By organizing a competition for law students, the Constitutional Court wants to emphasize that they are the greatest guarantee for the future of constitutionality and the rule of law," the statement reads.
They also said that the Constitutional Court, in the spirit of marking the anniversary and strengthening cooperation with the academic community, will organize consultations for law students for the first time. They will be held in the third week of November, and will provide students with the opportunity to receive expert guidance for the preparation of their papers, with the support of the president of the court, judges and constitutional court advisors.
The competition runs until December 5, and the awards will be presented at a ceremony on December 10, International Human Rights Day. The winning works will be published on the website and in the Constitutional Court's bulletin.
