In the process of destroying tobacco products from the Free Zone of the Port of Bar, which began on June 23 and ended on September 16, a total of 1.745.126 kilograms (kg) of tobacco and tobacco products were destroyed, the Government announced.
It is stated that at today's session, the Information on the implementation of the Decision on the destruction of tobacco products seized pursuant to the Decision on the prohibition of the storage of tobacco products in the territory of the Port of Bar Free Zone was adopted.
"The decision stipulates that tobacco products confiscated on the basis of the ban on the territory of the Free Zone, except for tobacco products that are the subject of investigation in the proceedings of the Special State Prosecutor's Office, will be destroyed within 90 days from the date of entry into force of this decision, in accordance with the law," the statement said.
The Government said that the process of destroying tobacco products began on June 23rd and was completed on September 16th of this year.
"The procedure was carried out transparently, with monitoring by international partners (HMRC, EUROL 4)," the statement said.
It is stated that 130.003 packs of cigarettes, or 1.326.330.000 cigarettes, were destroyed.
The government added that a certain number of packages were not the standard size of ten thousand cigarettes.
"526 packages of cut tobacco (weighing about 100 kg per package), 1.134 packages of hookah tobacco, and six packages of electronic cigarettes were destroyed," the government said.
They said that the total weight of destroyed tobacco and tobacco products was 1.745.126 kg, and that the process was carried out in compliance with environmental standards, without negative impacts on human health and the environment.
"In this context, the State Property Administration is tasked with taking over tobacco products that are evidence in criminal proceedings, in the amount of approximately 10.811 packs of cigarettes, for management in accordance with Article 5, paragraph 3 of the Law on the Confiscation of Proceeds from Crime," the statement said.
At its session held today, the Government adopted a Regulation amending the Regulation on the criteria for including or removing a medicine from the basic and supplementary lists of medicines.
The amendments, as stated by the Government, are in line with Council Directive 89/105/EEC on the transparency of measures regulating the pricing of medicinal products for human use and their inclusion in the national health insurance system.
They said that the procedure for issuing decisions by the Ministry of Health is also being specified, deadlines for deciding on requests are being shortened, and the obligation to update and submit the list of medicines removed from the List of Medicines to the European Commission every six months is being regulated.
"This ensures compliance with European legislation, which is one of the final benchmarks for closing Chapter 1," the statement said.
It is stated that the adoption of the Regulation will not cause additional costs for citizens and the economy, nor will it have fiscal effects on the budget of Montenegro, while at the same time contributing to transparency and efficiency in decision-making in the area of drug availability.
