DPS MP Zoja Bojanić Lalović asked the Minister of Education, Science and Innovation Anđela Jakšić Stojanović at today's session of the Parliament why the department she heads did not react immediately upon learning of the case of alleged violent behavior by a teacher towards a child in a state kindergarten.
Jakšić Stojanović responded that the procedure for determining potential liability is still ongoing, that they respect the presumption of innocence and for that reason they are distancing themselves when it comes to statements during the proceedings.
She said that two teachers have been suspended until the end of the proceedings and added that the Ministry will monitor what is happening and inform the public in a timely manner.
"The management of that public preschool institution took all measures and actions within its jurisdiction on the same day, a parent meeting was held, the Ministry and the inspection were notified, and disciplinary proceedings were initiated, which are still ongoing," said Jakšić Stojanović.
She said that the case is a matter of interest to parents and that certain legal proceedings have been initiated.
"When it comes to any situations that occur in educational institutions, we react immediately, there is no covering up of cases, no hiding of problems under the carpet. All measures and actions within our jurisdiction are implemented, and what happened is determined in the procedure itself," added Jakšić Stojanović.
