Young people are a key partner in the development of modern Montenegro and we need to send them a message that they can build success in their own country, said President Jakov Milatović.
Milatović chaired the third session of the Council of Youth Initiatives, at which, as announced by his office, it was confirmed that the Council is entering a new phase of work: from ideas to action.
It is stated that the focus of the session was on translating young people's proposals into concrete measures that will allow them greater influence, more opportunities, and a more visible role in society.
"At the session, it was agreed that the Council would begin implementing priority initiatives in the areas of employment and political participation in the coming months, with a clear plan of activities and a mechanism for monitoring the achieved results," the statement said.
Milatović said that young people are a key partner in the development of modern Montenegro.
"Our goal is for young people to not just be a topic of conversation, but an equal participant in decision-making. Montenegro can only progress if every young person feels they have the opportunity to succeed here," said Milatović.
The statement states that the members of the Council agreed that it is necessary to strengthen the political participation of young people through open dialogue on issues that directly concern them, including an initiative to consider the possibility of lowering the voting age.
"In the area of economic empowerment, the Council recognized the importance of creating better conditions for employment and self-employment of young people, as well as the need to improve and adapt existing programs, such as the Vocational Training Program, to modern market needs," the statement added.
It is stated that it was agreed to pay special attention to supporting innovation and entrepreneurship, in order to send a clear message to young people that they can build success in their own country.
"In the coming period, the Youth Initiatives Council will formalize recommendations by area and submit them to the competent institutions, with a clear mechanism for monitoring implementation and periodic reports to the public," the statement says.
It was announced at the session that the Council of Youth Initiatives confirms that the new generation in Montenegro is not waiting for changes, but creating them.
