Prime Minister Milojko Spajić congratulated citizens on the national holiday of Njegoš Day, which, as he said, represents the most expressive holiday of national culture and spirituality.
"With his artistic and engaged creativity, Njegoš spread the idea of truth, equality and unification to the broadest horizons. His life and work - poetic, statesmanlike and spiritual - transcend stereotypes and transcend narrow understandings of conservatism," the Prime Minister announced.
He said that Njegoš's numerous friendships across the Balkans and Europe, contacts with prominent people in science, politics, and art, as well as his personal library, which was richer and more diverse after each return to Cetinje, testify to the breadth of his spirit and the exceptionality of his character.
"Njegoš remains our permanent guide - because the path to knowledge, new achievements, experiences and technologies is the path of constant building and preserving personal and national dignity and integrity. Living the idea of integration does not mean renouncing tradition and the layers of identity, but rather the process of their valorization and enrichment, comparing ourselves with the most successful and advanced, which is our duty today," Spajić said.
He said "we are proud and happy that we continue to present to the world the highest achievements of civilization, the 'seed of which sprouted' right here."
