The president of the Zeta branch of the Socialist People's Party (SNP), Branko Noković, assessed that the construction of a wastewater treatment plant in Botun "is not a solution that would bring peace, security and trust."
"Zeta has its people, its word and its dignity. And whenever someone tried to decide for the citizens, Zeta knew how to say 'no'. I stand with the people of Botun and the entire Zeta, convinced that a collector at this location is not a solution that would bring peace, security and trust. The situation on the ground is clear: people have set up tents, ready to watch over their land. This is not a whim, but a message - that decisions about the future of Zeta cannot be made behind closed doors, without respecting those who live here," Noković said.
He said that he was not calling for blockades, but that he could not close his eyes "to the fact that they are a consequence of the feeling that someone is ignoring the voice of the people."
"This is an alarm that must be heard. That is why I reiterate the position of the SNP Zeta Party: a referendum is the most honest, most democratic and cleanest path. If the government believes in its project, let it present all the facts to the citizens and let the people express their opinion. There is no greater legitimacy than the will of the citizens, expressed freely and clearly. Zeta does not seek conflict, Zeta seeks to be respected," the statement reads.
