The construction of the wastewater treatment plant should begin in the next two weeks, announced the director of Podgorica's Vodovod Aleksandar Nišavić.
He told City Television that if the contractor is not provided with a clean plot of land, where the tent set up by the residents of Botun is currently located, the Capital City will face sanctions.
Nišavić said that the tent needs to be removed if it is determined that the residents of Botuni set it up without the necessary consent from the authorities.
"Especially because it is located on a plot planned for the construction of a wastewater treatment plant. If we do not provide a clean plot to the contractor, we risk the contractor protesting and thus challenging some clauses of the contract because we did not provide him with unencumbered access to carry out the work," added Nišavić.
He said that "the ball is in our court."
"We give the contractor the right to protest and for the Capital to suffer sanctions on that basis," said Nišavić, according to the Gradske portal.
The obligations of the competent services of the Main Labor Department are, according to Nišavić, clear.
"To take care of the property and act in accordance with the law. I do not have the authority to request the authorities to react and I hope that the services will carry out an inspection and issue a specific decision in the short term," added Nišavić.
He said that the wastewater treatment plant is not a polluter, but a project of national importance.
Nišavić said that it is in everyone's interest that construction begins within the scheduled deadline.
