The Ombudsman of the Radio and Television of Montenegro (RTCG) has requested the initiation of disciplinary proceedings against commentator Nebojša Šofranc due to the way he commented on incidents in the stands during the broadcast of the Montenegro - Croatia football match, including hate speech and provocative chants, the RTCG portal reports.
He believes that Šofranac relativized the event, because he did not clearly condemn the extremist outbursts, and after the match stated that the atmosphere was fair.
The Ombudsman states that he thereby violated RTCG's professional standards.
Croatian fans chanted "Kill the Serb" and "Ready for home" during yesterday's match against Montenegro in World Cup qualifiers.
Montenegrin fans responded with whistles and chants of "Ustasha and Chetniks, you fled together."
