Teams from the city company Zaštita prostora have begun dismantling the canopy on the premises at 52 Bulevar Revolucije, in the building where the President of Montenegro Jakov Milatović lives with his family, and the process will take several days, "Vijesti" has learned unofficially.

Previously, Branko Kovačević, director of the Capital City Inspection Department, told "Vijesti" that the removal of the store's canopy would continue once the state-owned company CEDIS disconnects the facility from the network.

The tenants had previously reported to the Capital City Inspection Department that the shop's canopy did not have a use permit, and after conducting an inspection, the Department ordered the demolition, which began this morning at around 10:30 a.m.

"CEDIS teams disconnected the facility from the network, however, as their teams found cables in the facility that still had electricity, the conditions were not met to continue removing the canopy. Therefore, the Directorate for Inspection Affairs of the Capital City sent a request to CEDIS for an emergency power outage at the substation in the Preko Morača part of the city. Once CEDIS approves the request and the power supply at the substation is disconnected, the state-owned company Zaštita prostora and other city services will continue removing the canopy," Kovačević previously told "Vijesti".

TV Vijesti previously reported that a well-known fast food restaurant chain is coming to Podgorica, but that the tenants of the building on Bulevar Revolucije believe that their neighborhood is not suitable for that type of business.

The tenants are addressing the franchise owner for this brand, the company "Kan Montenegro" from Kosovo, They cited safety risks, a kitchen in an unsuitable space, a chimney, lack of parking, dilapidated installations, noise and disruption of the living environment as reasons why they oppose the opening of the restaurant, TV Vijesti reported.

The building is also home to the President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović, with his wife Milena and children. Milatović previously responded to TV Vijesti that the residents had done what was their right with the petition, pointing out, as he claimed, the disorganized disposal of materials in front of the building and inappropriate addressing of his wife.

The owners of the premises assured that everything would function without problems and in accordance with regulations, however, they did not obtain approval from the Secretariat for Communal Affairs, so the canopy was ordered to be removed.
