At noon, residents of the Omerbožovići settlement in the Tuzi municipality visited the residents of Botun, who have been staying in a tent for more than a week, at the location planned for the construction of a wastewater treatment plant (collector) in that Zeta village.
One of the residents of Botuni, Slavko Vukčević, said that "on this rainy day we received support from our neighbors from the municipality of Tuzi."
"They have similar problems as we do. These problems are a consequence of the earlier years when we were sister municipalities."
The people of Botunja have been at the entrance to the village for more than a week. They are opposed to the construction of the collector, which is supposed to begin by the end of the year. A referendum has been scheduled for December 14 in the municipality of Zeta because of this issue.
Vukčević said that the plans of the former city administrations are "questionable to implement."
He also stated that the city administration organized a public hearing yesterday without the knowledge of the people of Botunja.
"They have a similar situation in Tuzi. The problem is when it comes to sanitation. They got them, and we got the swimming pools and planned facilities. The current government in Podgorica always chooses... We have an obligation to defend this location from these facilities," he said, adding that "the people of Zeća, part of the population of Podgorica and the Municipality of Tuzi, provide moral strength."
He also said that he would return their visit in the future.
Sandro Paljušaj, a resident of Omerbožovići, also sent the same message of support to his neighbors in Zeta.
He said they came to Botun "because they have the same problem."
"The Podgorica Municipality can build a collector in other places, but not here. Podgorica cannot develop at the expense of Zeta and Tuze," he said, adding that he supports the referendum, "which everyone should respect."
He stressed that he would not give up on the boycott of the construction of sanitary baths in Tuzi.
"This is a very important matter. The vineyard must not be near the landfill. We will not give up until we reach a final solution," he said.
Bojan Bašanović, a resident of Botun, thanked the residents of Omerbožovići for their visit.
He said they were in a big problem "like those in Botun." He added that they had proposed solutions and new locations, but had not met with understanding.
He recalled that the collector was planned on the site of "devastated factories".
