The goal of the Ministry of Sports and Youth is that every child in Montenegro has the opportunity to grow up in a safe environment, to feel supported and accepted, said the relevant Minister, Dragoslav Šćekić.

Today, as announced by the Ministry of Sports and Youth, he attended an inclusive sports event organized by UNICEF on the occasion of World Children's Day, which was held at the University Sports and Cultural Center in Podgorica.

The event, it was added, was realized in partnership with the Ministry of Sports and Youth, UNICEF and the Capital City.

"The goal of the event was to promote children's rights, equality, inclusion and togetherness through play, sports and socializing," the statement said.

It is stated that special emphasis is placed on encouraging children to believe in themselves, discover the world around them, and grow in an environment that supports them.

Šćekić also emphasized the importance of a strategic approach to the development of sports.

"Our main goal is to make sports fields and sports activities accessible to everyone, especially children, and we have established a strategy where we put special emphasis on school sports, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation," added Šćekić.

He stated that Universal Children's Day is a reminder of what is most important - children, their joy and their rights.

Šćekić emphasized that this year's slogan "My Day, My Rights" particularly strongly emphasizes the importance of play, because it is through play that children best learn, develop, and discover their potential.

"There is no more beautiful sight than a child laughing, running and playing without worries or fear. Our goal is for every child in Montenegro to have that opportunity – to grow up in a safe environment, to feel supported and accepted," said Šćekić.

He emphasized that sport must be accessible to everyone, in every school and every city, and that the Ministry continuously invests in sports facilities, clubs and inclusive programs, in cooperation with UNICEF.

Šćekić added that nowadays the most important thing is "to return to our original values, and the original value is love."

"Let's spread love, let's spread positive energy, let's not let bad things take over us. Today is your day. Play, laugh, enjoy and be who you are – spontaneous, cheerful and full of energy. Your joy is our greatest victory," said Šćekić.
